In April 2007, BIOX completed construction and commissioning of its first commercial-scale biodiesel production facility in Hamilton, ON. With a nameplate capacity of 67 million litres, the Hamilton facility is one the largest of its kind in the world.

Raven Construction was responsible for all civil activities associated with the construction of the facility. Our scope included:

  • Site preparation, grading and paving

  • Excavation and backfill

  • Underground piping including manholes, catch basins etc.

  • Steel driven pile installation

  • Cast-in-Place concrete installation (1150 CM)

  • Permanent fencing

  • Curtain wall installation (residential noise barrier)

  • Office renovations

Highlights: Project located within a residential area, therefore construction activities had to be coordinated and performed during specific hours of the day due to noise level concerns.

Additional precautions were required in support of pile driving activities due to vibration concerns that could potentially damage neighbouring structures.
