Project Description: Project located in Toronto, ON, involved the construction of a new MV GIS Building for Hydro One at their Fairbanks Transformer Station.

Scope: Raven Construction was responsible for all civil activities associated with the construction of the new building. Our scope included:

  •        Excavation and backfill operations

  •         Installation of shoring on 2 sides of the excavation

  •         Yard drainage and grading

  •         Form and pour building foundations

  •         Foundation waterproofing

  •         Pour basement slab on grade

  •         Form and pour suspended slab

  •         Install built up roof parapet

  •         Pour roof topping

  •         Supply and install all doors and hardware

  •         Supply and install suspended ceilings and bathroom finishes

Highlights: East and north side of excavation required the use of piles and wood lagging to shore the excavation because it was so close to the adjacent properties. The site was so limited in space that the adjacent property was rented in order to setup a site office and lunch room.

Due to the limited space on site all deliveries and concrete pours had to be coordinated in detail to avoid any delays and disruptions to traffic.
