Project Description: Located in Milton, ON, between Britannia and Derry Road exits off the 407 ETR RAven Construction worked as Aecon’s Civil subcontractor on an expansion of an oil and gas station for Union Gas that we previously completed in 2007. This project ran from Spring of 2014 until Spring of 2015. This project was Union Gas Parkway West.

Project Scope: RAven Construction was responsible for a large portion of the civil contract. Our scope included:

• Layout of all buildings, supports and trench locations

• Formwork and rebar installation

• Cast-in-place concrete installation for Compressor buildings C and D, pipe and valve supports, three large control buildings, metering runs, after cooler foundations and various large slab on grade construction

• Foundation waterproofing

• Scaffolding for all contractors throughout all stages of the project

• Pre-cast cable trench installations

• Supply and install doors and hardware

• Epoxy grout installation under new compressor machines C and D

Highlights: Located on an old 100-acre farm lot the presence of mud and ground water was always something to be maintained and properly contained for the environment. De-watering was maintained in a large containment area near the site parking lot from project start to finish.

Work continued throughout the entire winter season on this project with a well-coordinated supervision team to help achieve productivity throughout busy sections of overlapping work scopes and changing site conditions. Best practices for heating and hoarding were met to ensure quality product of cast-in-place concrete was achieved.
