Project Description: Construction of new Port Colborne Transformer Station for Hydro One, replacing the existing Transformer Station that had reached end of life.

Scope: Raven Construction was responsible for all civil activities associated with the construction of the new facility. Our scope included:

• Daylight, excavation and backfill operations

• Yard drainage and grading

• Formwork, rebar and cast-in-place concrete for yard foundations, two transformer containments and oil/water separation tank

• Masonry installation of fire separation wall

• Duct bank installations

• Supply and install doors and hardware

• Fence installations, chain-link and wooden fence systems

• Asphalt paving

Highlights: Due to this new transformer station taking over an existing one, care had to be taken due to buried utilities in the area by daylighting (Dry-vac) conduits to ensure a safe construction environment.
