Project Description: Located in the town of Arnprior, ON, 65 kilometers west of downtown Ottawa is a Hydro One station beside an electric power dam. This station received a new relay building addition.

Project Scope: RAven Construction performed the civil construction work for State Group for this addition through the winter of early 2019. Listed below is the scope performed:

• Daylighting, excavation and backfill activities

• Formwork, rebar and cast-in-place concrete installation for relay building addition

• Foundation waterproofing

• Setting plates for the pre-cast building to be welded to

• Supply and install doors and hardware, hurricane angle supports for the roof

• Weeping tile install, conduit trenches and duct banks

Highlights: As this work was performed in a working/existing station care had to be taken to ensure the safety of our workers from live electrical utilities overhead and buried. Locates were complete and no digging commenced without first exposing lines to verify their locations.

               All of the concrete was cast during winter months, extra care when heating and hoarding operations took place to ensure final product standards were maintained.
