Project Description: Located in Toyota’s Woodstock car plant is a new foundation required for an Injection Molding Machine. This involved demolition of the plant floor slab and new construction to make the foundation adequate for the modification.

Project Scope: RAven Construction was awarded the civil contract from AIM Industrial for this operation. The scope as outlined below:

• Installation of a sealed hoarding system from the floor slab to the roof to contain construction dust during the entire length of project

• Installation of various safety yellow painted steps and platforms in the plant

• Saw-cut and demo the existing concrete floor slab

• Excavation operations

• Drill, dowel, formwork and rebar installation of slab reinstatement and IMM foundation

• Install trench drain along entire perimeter

• Cast-in-place concrete pour new foundation slab area for IMM Base

• Finish, coat and seal new slab and grout IMM Base to structure

Highlights: Maintaining a dust clean environment was of top importance to protect the new cars on the line from damage. Work was situated right on the inside of a large roll up door in a low traffic area of the plant so access for construction operations was smooth with low impact to plant activities.
