Originating at Hardisty, AB, the Canadian portion of the Keystone Project involved the conversion of approximately 864km of existing mainline pipeline facilities for natural gas to crude oil transmission service and 373km of new pipeline, in addition to sixteen (16) pumping stations being required.
Raven Construction was responsible for all civil works activities pertaining to four (4) pumping stations located east of Regina, SK to the Manitoba border. Our scope included:
Site preparation and grading activities
Excavation and backfill
Steel driven pile installation
Concrete foundations for pumps, process equipment, electrical equipment and associated above-grade supports (1150 CM)
Highlights: Due to the target price nature of our contract, which provided both positive and negative incentives, the consistent tracking of changes was extremely important. By project completion, total contract value including change orders had increased by 300%.
65% of concrete was cast during winter months. Extensive heating and hoarding systems required to ensure project quality standards were maintained.
