Project Description: Located in the rural county of the town of Westover, ON, near Hamilton is an oil & gas station that is getting a new line 10 carve out project with a new electrical switchgear building outside of the existing station and two new booster pumps complete with metering and prover platforms and pipework.

Project Scope: RAven Construction was awarded the contract under Nexar for the civil work associated with this contract as follows:

• Site clearing, grubbing and setup

• Excavation and backfill operations excluding Dry-Vac

• Caisson drilling activities

• Formwork, rebar and cast-in-place concrete for a large variety of foundations, including but not limited to: Electrical and mechanical supports, piles and pile caps, booster pump sleeves and foundations, metering skid and prover supports, slab on raised deck complete with curb, various stair, ladder and door pads and slab on grade construction.

• Scaffolding for electrical and mechanical trades throughout the project

• Procedural burial of electrical conduits, grounding, gas lines and sump tanks

• Quality control monitoring of all building materials, backfill and concrete documentation

• Pre-cast conduit trench installation

• Epoxy and cementitious grouting

Highlights: As this project was completed within an existing station there were many challenges and changes to buried utilities and structures as the project continued. All changes had to be, and were documented meticulously.

               We had a total of 1100 cubic meters of bedrock to breakout down before our new construction could take place inside the station.
